OK Centurlink we know you refuse to upgrade to have fast speed, but is stable Internet too much to ask for?

Centurlink technicians make no bones about it, “The Copper Lines are older than us all” said a technician in 2021. Out in lower Floral City there is one wired Internet option in town and they have zero incentive as a monopoly to upgrade their antiquated 50+ year old copper wires. The idea is that one of these decades Spectrum may come into the area so they would not want to invest money when they will certainly lose all there customers if such a event would occur. Does this sound like a quality way to conduct business? Century link sure does not mind taking money from 100’s of households but when asked if they can upgrade there service to stable working conditions, they remind me they THINK that spectrum will be here soon so they will lose 95% of there customers. A call was made to verify and Spectrum says they will not be out here anytime soon. So a company can refuse to upgrade at all to deliver consistent services on the incriminating that a competitor will come out at some point maybe 5 or 10 years later? If the State is going to allow telecommunication companies to have the luxury of having a monopoly by assigning them to a entire region that sometimes span across multiple counties deemed as territories. . The state allowed this mess to happen and it should also be mandated by the state to make this right. In June of 2023 a call was made to the county commissioners offers addressing this and the receptionist who handles the calls said: We have heard about unstable and slow speeds FOR YEARS NOW for lower Floral City Area.

What that really means is:

For years the county commissioners have sat with hands in their pockets doing nothing about this for

years.
